Doctrinal Statement

Statement of Faith

We affirm that there exists one God, Creator and Lord of the universe, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We affirm that the Bible as originally written, both Old and New Testaments, is God’s authoritative, inspired Word. It is without error in all it intends to communicate about God, humanity, salvation, origins, and history. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters of belief and conduct.

We affirm that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, was born of the virgin Mary, lived a life without sin, died a substitutionary atoning death on the cross, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended to heaven where, as truly God and truly man, He is the only mediator between God and man.

We affirm the necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit for the believer’s new birth and growth to maturity in Christ. Every believer is called to live and walk in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit bearing fruit to the glory of God.

We affirm that all people are sinners and are subject to God’s just condemnation. Salvation is available to all those who have been born again expressing personal repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ. Justification before God comes only by grace through faith the Lord Jesus Christ.

We affirm that Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return in glory to raise the dead and judge all persons, with the saved receiving eternal life and the lost eternal death. God will consummate His kingdom in establishing a new heaven and new earth, in which He will reign forever glorified with his church.

We affirm that God created humans as male and female and that he created marriage to be a covenant relationship between one man and one woman modelled after the relationship of Christ and the church. Although both marriage and singleness are honourable estates useful for service to his kingdom, God designed sexual relations to be a physical expression of the covenant of marriage reserved to be expressed within that relationship.

Statement of Christian Lifestyle

Staff members and volunteers of SEE Global (SG) are committed to the mission of the organization and to living in a manner that brings glory to the name of our Lord. We desire to serve with each other in a way that honors God, promotes authentic relationships, and moves SG forward in accomplishing its mission.

Staff members and volunteers of SG are committed to living a life that is set apart for and brings honor to the name of Christ. To this end we agree to uphold this Statement of Christian Lifestyle.

We affirm that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, and therefore is the final and binding authority concerning truth, morality, and proper conduct—what we believe and how we live. Therefore:

  1. We commit to pursue a lifestyle that honors Christ, to develop and practice Christian morals and virtues, and to live in Christian loyalty to each other through the pursuit of the fruit of the Spirit— love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Colossians 1:10; Galatians 5:22–23).
  2. We commit to not engage in behavior expressly forbidden in the Bible. This includes, but is not limited to, slander, drunkenness, stealing, profane language, gluttony, premarital sex, adultery, and homosexual behavior (1 Corinthians 6:9–11). Engaging in these or other such sins may be the basis for discipline or termination of staff or volunteers. A pattern of exhibiting sinful attitudes (pride, bitterness, anger, etc.) may also be the basis for discipline or termination.
  3. We commit to support what we believe to be a biblical view of human sexuality and marriage: that God established marriage as a lifelong, covenant relationship between one man and one woman, and that sexual relations are blessed and permitted only within the bounds of marriage so defined. We will pursue sexual purity in all areas, avoiding all forms of immorality, including pornography and other sexually explicit entertainment (Genesis 2:18–25; 1 Corinthians 6:18). We will be faithful to uphold and protect the marriage covenant, whether our own or that of others.
  4. We commit to living a life that is set apart for God, recognizing that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. As such, we will abstain from any kind of substance abuse and refrain from the use of hallucinogenic drugs, illegal substances, marijuana, and narcotics not authorized by a physician. (1 Corinthians 6:19; Proverbs 23).
  5. We commit to using the resources God has provided to SG in a way that is positive and constructive and that demonstrates responsible stewardship (Luke 16:10).
